Realtor.com’s most recent Hottest Housing Market List had Columbus, Ohio reach the 3rd spot. Five other Ohio cities also made it within the top 20 in the nation according to this study. Ohio was the most represented state within the top 20 collecting 6 of those spots.
To identify its “Hottest Housing Markets,” Realtor.com looks for regions where homes are selling quickly and have a lot of potential buyers viewing each listing. As a collective, the 20 Hottest markets experienced 1.5 to 3.0 times the amount of viewers for each home for sale compared to the national rate.
Columbus Rankings
In Columbus, the average number of viewers per property is 2.2 times higher than the national average and the median days on the market is 58.5. The median listing price of $344,000 is only third to Rochester, N.Y. with a median listing price of $229,000 and Manchester-Nashua, N.H. with $534,000. This is in comparison to the US Average.
In January, Realtor.com reported that the median national home price for active listings stayed the same at $400,000, with an 8.1 percent growth rate annually, making Columbus over $50,000 less expensive than the national average, which is great for buyers moving into and around the area.
Columbus, Ohio was identified as No. 9 on the list of the top 10 growing real estate markets in the U.S. by the Wall Street Journal and Realtor.com.
